Overview

Jonathan I. Sirois represents lenders, developers, sponsors of affordable housing investment funds and institutional investors in equity financing for affordable housing, helping clients structure and close tax credit investments that bring multiple sources of capital together. Based in Boston, he is a partner in Holland & Knight's Tax Credit & Community Development Finance Practice and has advised on projects eligible for federal low-income housing tax credits, as well as state and local credits, including affordable housing, film, mill and rural business development, and federal and state historic rehabilitation tax credits since joining the Firm in 2004.

Jonathan's investor clients include national and regional insurance companies, banks and Fortune 500 companies. He helps them structure and close numerous direct equity investments and private placements, as well as guaranteed, credit-enhanced and non-guaranteed proprietary funds, aligning each structure with the client's investment objectives and risk profile.

Before joining Holland & Knight, Jonathan served as an administrator for the Boston Public Health Commission, assisting in the management of its labor relations, property, finance, human resources and operations departments. He also interned in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and the U.S. House of Representatives and, in 1998, in the Oval Office Operations and Political Affairs departments of the White House.

This public-sector background gives Jonathan firsthand insight into how government programs and institutions operate – perspective he brings to the public-private financing structures at the heart of affordable housing development.
