Overview

Leif Anderson advises individuals and businesses facing high-stakes tax disputes, audits and litigation. He has represented clients in matters before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Independent Office of Appeals and in federal courts involving complex corporate and international tax issues, energy tax credits and tax-exempt organizations.

Leif also advises clients on a host of issues that require a sophisticated understanding of both tax law and government enforcement. His experience includes advising clients on federal tax withholding requirements, tax residency and international income sourcing, the foreign tax credit, renewable energy tax credits, taxation of Indian Tribes and their members, taxation of partnerships and general federal tax compliance.

Before joining Holland & Knight, Leif served as a law clerk to the Honorable Emin Toro of the U.S. Tax Court. He also gained government experience as an attorney with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel and as an extern with the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division. Leif's background across the judiciary and federal tax enforcement agencies gives him a well-rounded perspective on how tax controversies are evaluated, investigated and litigated.
